Need Help?
The documentation for Face Robot is available in two ways:
- On this Face Robot wiki (http://facerobot.wiki.avid.com), which can be accessed from an internet browser or by clicking the help (?) icons on any of the Face Robot stage panels.
You need to have a login account to have access to the Face Robot wiki.
When you’re logged in, clicking the help icon on a panel launches a browser that finds the link that corresponds to the current stage in Face Robot. For example, if you click the help icon on the Stage 6: Tune panel, the documentation for that stage appears in the browser.
- In the FaceRobot.CHM (compiled help) file, which is available by choosing Help > Face Robot Guides from the main menu bar, or by pressing F1 anywhere in the Face Robot interface. As well, you can access it from the computer’s Start menu (Programs > Softimage Products > Softimage Face Robot > Documentation > Face Robot Guides.)
If you set a documentation preference (see below), you can also access the CHM file by clicking the help (?) icons on any of the Face Robot stage panels.
You can also access the XSI documentation from the XSI wiki (http://softimage.wiki.avid.com) or by choosing Help > XSI Guides from the main menu bar in Face Robot.
Setting a Preference for Online (Wiki) or Offline (CHM) Documentation
You can set a preference to use the CHM file that is installed with the Face Robot software or the Face Robot wiki as the default documentation delivery method when you click a help icon in any Face Robot stage panel. For example, if you’re working offline or the wiki server is down, you can switch to the CHM file instead of the wiki.
This preference affects only how the documentation is accessed from the help icon on the stage panels: you can always access the Face Robot CHM file from the Help menu, from the Start menu, or by pressing F1.
While the same information is contained in both formats, the wiki is constantly being monitored and updated, so it will provide you with the most up-to-date information. As well, you can contribute information as you like to the Face Robot wiki!
To set the documentation preference
1. Choose File > Preferences from the main menu bar and select Custom > Face Robot in the Preferences property editor.
2. Select the Offline Help option if you want to access the CHM file documentation from the help icon in the panels.
